Taking Professional Care of Your Pets
& Home While You're on Holiday

Pet & House Sitting

Keeping Your Pets Company

I can walk your dog/s twice daily, and spend plenty of time playing with and fussing your pets.

For pets with separation anxiety, I provide a premium service with a guaranteed 23+ hour daily stay. I use calming meditation, pet psychology and comforting gestures to make sure your pet feels safe and reassured.

Keeping Your Home Clean & Safe

I always wash and replace all bed clothes and clean any rooms I have access to.

I water plants as required, bring in packages and make sure your home is safe and secure during the sit.

Regular Updates

Keeping You & Your Pets Connected.

I'll send you daily photos and videos of your pets having fun.

If you're really missing them, or just want some reassurance and to check in from time to time, I'm very happy to do video chats on WhatsApp.

Your Home Security & Cameras.

These days, many homes have security cameras and video doorbells. I'm completely fine with cameras in the home, you don't need to turn any of these off during the sit.

Video doorbells are particularly useful if you like to know when your dogs are out walking!

About Me

I'm Steven, I'm 50, a non-smoker, and work from home as an author. I write self help books and teach meditation.

I grew up with cats, dogs, horses, fish, and a tortoise. I adore all animals and have been professional pet sitting for several years.

Animals bond with me extremely quickly, I have a very calming presence and understand animal psychology. During a sit I spend a lot of time with pets, I love playing with cats and dogs. I meditate daily, and cats usually end up purring away on my lap during meditation.

I am an experienced energy healer (similar to Reiki) and previously volunteered at drop-in centers to heal sick and elderly people. I have also done healing work and energy balancing with cats and dogs for family and friends.

Even very anti-social and anxious pets bond with me very quickly, I understand animal psychology and use calming body language to help put pets at ease and gain their trust.

Reviews

“I found an amazing sitter who Hades loves! Steven was great and sent regular pictures and kept in touch, and even managed to turn Hades into a lap cat, which I struggled to do for 3 years and he did it in more than a week!! The house was spotless and we had a good chat when I got back from my holiday. I highly recommend Steven, especially if you have a naughty Bengal like me.”

“Steve was the perfect sitter for our cat! It was super easy to communicate with him, he offered to come to see the flat and meet our cat during his previous visit in the city, so when we left we knew he was completely briefed on everything.

He sent us pictures and videos while we were away which was lovely, and most importantly we could tell from his messages that he truly cared about our cat he wasn’t just spending a holiday in our home. The flat was left immaculate, so we came back to a tidy and clean flat, and a happy and relaxed cat!”

“Before Steve even arrived, I really appreciated his quick replies to messages and flexibility. He kept me updated on his arrival time and it was great getting to know him a bit before I left, he's extremely friendly and I felt comfortable leaving my cat and house in his care for 3 weeks.

I got sent pictures of my cat cuddling up in his lap in the evenings and snuggling in bed with him, as well as videos of her having fun with her favourite toys. I was so glad to see her happy and comfortable. I came back home to a spanking clean house, a happy cat, and bonus points for my houseplants looking very healthy! Thank you so much, Steve, I appreciate all the love you gave her and caring for my home!”

“Steve's sat for us several times and it's obvious that Maisie loves the attention and care that he gives her. It's so reassuring to know how well looked after she has been whilst we've been away - I don't think she particular notices that we've not been here! Also great to come back to a clean and tidy house - would totally recommend Steve as a sitter and hope that he'll be able to sit for us again in the future”

“Steven was a great sitter - we were able to meet up in person before the sit and it was lovely to see him and Milly (the cat) becoming acquainted. He clearly has a way with animals and i had no issues leaving Milly in his care. The house was left very tidy and Milly was a happy cat.

Steven went the extra mile and was able to step in and spend an additional night at our house due to a family matter that meant we were unable to return when we had planned. Thanks so very much Steven.”

“Steve was somewhat thrown in at the deep end with us but couldn't have risen to the challenge anymore! Our dog, Stanley, took an instant shine to him as did the cats! He was the ideal house guest....threw himself into our family chaos wholeheartedly and actually seemed to enjoy it!! The house was immaculate when we got home....sheets stripped and washed....bliss! We would not hesitate to recommend him.”

“Steven was great with our two small dogs and sent regular updates with pictures of them looking happy at the park. He even let them sleep on his bed which was very sweet. Our dogs aren't the best walkers and he had no qualms about using our dog pram! Steven also kept our house super tidy and watered our garden every day. We'd have him back anytime he wants!”

He does an incredible job and Archie loves him! Thanks again.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you cover?

I pet sit all over the UK. My preferred areas are London and the South Coast. I spend most of my time in Brighton and Hove. I am very happy to accept pet sitting applications from anywhere within the UK.

My pet suffers from anxiety, how can you reassure them?

I bond with animals very quickly. I understand pet psychology and how to interact with them on their terms. I allow them to approach me when they are ready. I use body language and signals that animals understand (such as long slow blinking).

I have a very calming presence and caring nature, I meditate daily and I'm a certified healer with the NFSH. Even very anti-social pets usually end up on my lap, enjoying the calm healing energies as I meditate.

I also talk to animals a lot. When I meet a new anxious pet for the first time I chat with them from a distance, giving them a running commentary of whatever I'm doing. I find that casually chatting with pets (without approaching them) helps them to trust you.

Are you OK with my pet sleeping on the bed with you?

Yes. I stick to your routine as closely as possible. If your pet sleeps on the bed with you then they can also sleep on the bed with me.

Similarly, if you don't allow them on the sofa, then I won't allow them on the sofa. I try to maintain the same schedule, rules, and routine that they are used to so that there is as little disruption as possible while you're away.

How often do you send updates?

As often as you like. Some people like to be updated with lots of photos and videos every day, others prefer me to just check in every few days. Let me know what you prefer. I can send photos and videos as often as you want them and also do video chats if you are really missing your fur babies!

Can you administer medication?

I can not do injections, but I can administer eye/ear drops and oral medication etc. If your pet becomes ill during the sit I will contact you immediately and explain the situation, including photos, videos or a video chat as appropriate. If necessary I will take your pet to your vet.

Do you have DBS checks and Insurance?

I have a recent DBS check showing that I have no convictions, cautions, reprimands or warnings. I have never been in trouble with law for any reason. I am insured through Rover, and they also have my personal records and DBS on file. I complete all bookings via Rover as they supply the necessary insurance and maintain my calendar.

How do I know that your reviews are genuine?

All of the reviews on this site where submitted to Trusted House Sitters by the pet owners directly. I also have many more reviews on their site. All of my reviews are 5 star with great feedback. I have done lots of repeat sits on Trusted House Sitters, so I only included one review from each pet parent here. If you'd like to check all of my reviews please check my THS profile.

How do I check your availability?

You can call (07832153446) or email me to check dates, or you can view my calendar directly on My Rover Profile. I only accept booking via Rover as this keeps my calendar up to date and provides all the necessary insurances.

How do I book you for a sit?

You can apply via My Rover Profile and I will reply to your application. If you have any questions you can contact me via Rover or directly by phone or email.

Are there any additional fees?

If you live in an area that requires a parking permit to park at your home you will need to supply these for the duration of the sit. I do a lot of sits in Brighton and Hove and know that visitor permits are extremely limited so please make sure you are able to provide permits for the full duration of the sit before booking.

I am not a member of Rover, how do I book you?

I only accept booking via Rover, but it's very easy to set up an account and it's free to join, simple go to My Rover Profile and create your account. Use the discount code STEVEH80326 to get £15 off your first sit!

If you are sitting at my home is dog walking included?

Yes, I will walk your dog/s twice a day as part of the pet sitting service with no extra charge.

Do you do house sitting without pets?

Yes, if you need a house sitter to look after your home while you're away (taking in post, keeping an eye on things, letting staff/workers in etc.) but you have no pets, I can provide this service for £20 per day.
